GENERAL MANAGER

1. ROLE OBJECTIVE
The General Manager is responsible for the daily operational excellence of the company. This includes overseeing the engineering teams, managing the supply chain for solar and electrical equipment, ensuring 100% client satisfaction, and driving the company’s growth through strategic partnerships and investment management. The manager reports to: Chief Executive Officer / Board of Directors
2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Operations & Project Oversight
- Workflow Management: Coordinate the scheduling of projects, and maintenance visits.
- Quality Control: Review the “Commissioning & Handover Checklists” for every project to ensure the Company’s Standards are met before site exit.
- Site Inspections: Conduct periodic site visits to ensure technicians are following safety protocols and using materials efficiently.
B. CUSTOMER SERVICE AND OFFICE MANAGEMENT Management
- Customer Service: Attend to office visitors and online inquiries from social media (WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram), email and website in collaboration with other team members
- Community Management: Assist in managing the company’s social media handle for marketing in collaboration with other team members. which includes creating marketing content
- Contracts: Write and sign contracts and partnerships on behalf of the company.
- Human Resource Management: Capacity to recruit contract workers, receive interns, receive trainees. Ensuring that all workers are doing their job properly.
- Materials and Tools: Control office activities such as sales, stock and equipment rentals
- Supplier Negotiation: Maintain relationships with international and local suppliers to secure the best pricing for electrical and solar materials.
C. Financial & Sales Leadership
- Quoting & Billing: Write Estimates, Review and approve high-value quotes.
- Business Development: Identify and secure partnerships with architects, real estate developers, and construction firms.
- Revenue Growth: Drive the sale of “Annual Maintenance Plans” to ensure recurring revenue for the company.
D. Team & Training Management
- Leadership: Manage and mentor a team of technicians, electricians, and administrative staff.
- Training Programs: Oversee the Internship and Apprenticeship programs, ensuring trainees are being educated according to the company’s curriculum.
- Safety Compliance: Ensure all staff are equipped with and using proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) at all times.
3. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Education: Degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Business Management, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 1 year in electrical installations, solar installations, or business administration.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of solar PV systems, electrical load calculations, and domestic wiring.
- Independence: Ability to keep the business running if the CEO is temporally or permanently unavailable.
- Soft Skills:
- Negotiation: Ability to close high-ticket deals with corporate partners.
- Problem Solving: Quick thinking to resolve on-site challenges .
- Language: Fluency in English and Pidgin is highly preferred (to handle diverse clients and regulatory bodies), French is a plus.
- Tools: Proficiency in Microsoft Office software such as MS Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
4. PROBATION (TRIAL PERIOD)
3 Months trial period that will include additional training on relevant areas and business familiarity. Within this period the Manager will be working hand-in-hand with the CEO and other staff to perform same duties outlined so that the manager takes time to understand how the business runs, learns more on the company’s internal regulations and business standards.
5. PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
The Manager’s success will be measured by:
- Project Turnaround: Average time that a project takes to complete.
- Safety Record: Zero preventable on-site accidents.
- Profitability: Maintaining healthy margins on projects and inventory sales.
- Partner Growth: Number of new active partners (architects/developers) signed.
6. WORKING DAYS
- Monday: Online (attending to inquiries if any, preparing business schedules, publishing on social media if necessary)
- Tuesday: Office (9AM to 4PM) / Field Work if available
- Wednesday: Free / Field Work if available
- Thursday: Free / Field Work if available
- Friday: Office (9AM to 4PM) / Field Work if available
- Saturday: Office (9AM to 4PM) / Field Work if available
- Sunday: Free / Online Work if available
7. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
- Personal Allowance: 30,000 XAF monthy (in trial period) and 50,000 XAF monthly (after trial period)
- Transport Allowance: 10,000 XAF monthly for transportation from home to office (excluding transportation to sites)
- Data Connection Allowance: 2000 XAF monthly for personal data, and 1000XAF for monthly offline communication credit
- WiFi: Free unlimited wifi connection at the office.
- Personal Office Space: Will have a personal office space equipped with stationaries and stamps
- Performance Bonus: Percentage based on company profit and successful project delivery.
- Equity: The manager shall be gifted 10% of the company shares (10% ownwership) eligible for 10% of annual dividents. The shares will be worth 500,000XAF and can be sold back to the company or to a third party after receiving the first divident.
- Other Benefits: Personal complementary cards, Company Badge, unlimited supply of company merchandise (T-shirts, etc).
- Engineering Benefits: The manager will have a seperate contract as a lead engineer with daily pay based on project realised
- Referral Bonus: Will receive 20% of profits generated from personal projects brought to the company and will still receive normal daily pay for working in the project as an engineer. this 20% is only calculated when all workers involved in the project have been paid and any logistics and welfare costs covered. and as a 10% sharehlder, will still be entitled to additional 10% of the profits generated.
- Future Opportunities: Based on personal performance and business growth, the company will later make the Job as full time and implement a steady salary on top of all the allowances outlined. The salary amount will be determined by the company growth and will keep increasing as the company grows bigger as well as the company will hire more staff to assist the manager.
